Custom Made Furniture

Crafting bespoke furniture pieces tailored to your vision and space, each designed to complement your room’s style and functionality. From concept to creation, every piece is made with care, ensuring it not only fits your home but also tells a story.

Standing Liquor Cabinet

  • A semi-formal piece to fit in a small space that will hold liquor bottles and associated glassware.

  • I designed and built this liquor cabinet based on my interpretation of E.W. Godwin’s "Side Table" (c. 1872). Godwin (1833–1886) is celebrated posthumously as a pioneer of the Modern Movement in design. (Check out the original on the Metropolitan Museum of Art's website.)

  • My version, crafted from Peruvian Walnut and accented with brass, stays true to Godwin's design ethos while adding some additional shelves and a door for interest. Perhaps the most important feature: it holds more liquor.

Highbacked Guitar Chair

  • A guitar player displayed a unique guitar as art but wanted to play it as well. A chair was required to fit a small nook next to the guitar.

  • Drawing inspiration from Charles Rennie Mackintosh and Frank Lloyd Wright, this highback guitar chair combines elegance with functionality. The tall, straight back emphasizes the verticality of the space, while the armless design ensures comfort and ease for guitar playing. Its light, cheerful coloring enhances the guitar's beauty, creating a visually harmonious and inviting presence in the room.

  • Crafted from Curly Maple and Padauk, this chair showcases both durability and aesthetic appeal. The seat is upholstered with a fabric resembling cork, adding a unique texture and warmth to the design. The four Padauk back posts are connected with short Curly Maple crosspieces, each secured with one of 72 through mortise-and-tenon joints. This meticulous construction not only provides structural integrity but also adds visual interest, highlighting the craftsmanship from every angle.

Farmhouse Table, With A Twist

  • The client envisioned a classic farmhouse-style table with white legs and an apron to suit their dining space. However, they desired a distinctive element—a unique twist that would make the table a memorable centerpiece, sparking conversation and drawing admiration during gatherings with family and friends.

  • The legs and apron were crafted in a classic country farmhouse style, staying true to traditional design principles. To introduce a distinctive twist, the tabletop was made using long planks of alternating Wenge and Yellowheart wood. This bold contrast in color and grain adds a modern flair, making the table both eye-catching and uniquely elegant while maintaining its rustic charm.

  • The tabletop showcases the striking interplay of Wenge and Yellowheart, two woods chosen for their dramatic contrast and durability. Wenge’s deep, rich tones are beautifully complemented by Yellowheart’s bright, golden hue, creating a vibrant yet harmonious design. The natural grain patterns of these woods bring texture and visual depth to the table.

The legs and apron, painted in a classic white finish, provide a clean, traditional farmhouse aesthetic that balances the boldness of the top. This thoughtful combination of materials and design ensures the table is both functional and a standout feature in any dining space.
